Аннотация

Decreasing the share of non-performing loans is critical for ensuring financial stability, enhancing credit
availability, improving cost efficiency, strengthening risk management, fostering investor confidence, complying with
regulatory requirements, and supporting sustainable economic growth. By addressing the root causes of NPLs and
implementing effective risk mitigation strategies, banks can enhance their resilience, competitiveness, and long-term
viability in the global financial landscape. The paper examines the essence of the concept of problem loans, presents the
main factors that contribute to the emergence of NPLs and deals with the analysis of the quality of the loan portfolio of
banks in Uzbekistan. Moreover, the paper presents proposals for improving the efficiency of managing the loan portfolio
of commercial banks.
