Abstract

The transition towards a green economy has become imperative in addressing global environmental challenges.
Higher education institutions play a crucial role in facilitating this transition by integrating sustainable practices
into their curricula and fostering the development of skills necessary for a green economy. However, there is a need for
a comprehensive understanding of how higher education institutions contribute to this process. This study employs a
systematic analysis to explore the role of higher education in fostering the green economy transition through curriculum
integration and skill development. By examining a range of academic disciplines and programs, this research investigates
the extent to which sustainability concepts are incorporated into higher education curricula and the effectiveness of skill
development initiatives. The findings reveal the current status and gaps in curriculum integration and skill development,
highlighting opportunities for improvement. The study also identifies key factors that facilitate or hinder the integration of
sustainability into higher education curricula and the development of green skills. This research contributes to the growing
body of knowledge on the role of higher education in fostering the green economy transition and provides insights for
policymakers, educators, and institutions seeking to enhance sustainability education and prepare future professionals
for a green economy.
